A ROUNDUP OF OUR 10 FAVORITE HAND PAINTED WATERCOLOR COOKIES
WEST COAST ORANGE via WEDDING SPARROW
When I was a kid, I got decent grades in school. I loved to read, was proficient in math and vaguely grasped the concept of the standard sciences. Most of my report cards, however, came home with some version of this scrawled across them,
“Malerie is a very good student… but she needs to stop drawing so much in class…”
What can I say? When you know what you love, you know!! And as I have grown and branched out into the world, my love for art has followed suit. A few years ago, I started dabbling in pastry art… cakes mostly… I began creating cakes and covering them with fondant, which allowed me to paint on their surfaces. But I thought to myself… hey, I wonder if I could paint on cookie frosting? Which brings us to today…
Turns out, I CAN paint on cookie frosting, and I LOVE it! Hand painted watercolor cookies have turned into my artistic outlet in this life and I truly don’t know if I will ever stop creating them. In fact, I almost never paint conventionally anymore!
And the beauty of hand painted watercolor cookies? Their simplicity! All it takes is a sugar cookie covered in hardened royal icing, a paint brush, a bit of food coloring and some time. In fact, I now make a batch of these little beauties in a different theme for every BRUNCH EVENT we throw! That is why I decided it would be fun to share with you a roundup of my 10 favorite personally hand painted watercolor cookies!
